Appliance Therapy and Orthodontics
Adult Orthodontics
Orthodontics are not just for children and teens — in fact, one in five orthodontic patients is an adult. But left untreated, many orthodontic problems such crowded teeth and bad bites may become worse. And unfortunately, these problems can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, tooth loss and pain in the jaw joints.
Lex Smiles offers orthodontic treatments that are convenient — and often invisible – to fit into your current lifestyle. And with Invisalign transparent braces, you can easily straighten your teeth with no metal wires or bands to irritate your mouth.
In our multi-specialty dental practice, our orthodontists are able to closely coordinate your care to assure your treatment plan is managed well and that you receive the smile of your dreams.
Orthodontics for Children and Teenagers
Orthodontics is the part of dentistry dedicated to the prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. Crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain. This can result in tooth decay, worsen gum disease and lead to tooth loss. Other orthodontic problems can contribute to abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints.
Although there is no age limit to start orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends having the first orthodontic screening at age seven to ensure the correct development of a healthy bite. The first permanent molars and incisors have usually come in by that time and crossbites, crowding and other problems can be evaluated. At this early age, orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but careful examination can anticipate the most advantageous time to begin treatment.
We utilize state of the art orthodontic systems from fully customized braces, lingual braces and even invisalign for teenagers!
