Dentures
At Lex Smiles, our dental team does everything possible to help patients keep their natural teeth strong and healthy. In certain circumstances, it isn’t always possible to keep all your natural teeth. In situations like these, our dentists might recommend complete or partial dentures.
What are Complete Dentures?
Complete dentures act as a set of replacement teeth for patients who have little of their original teeth remaining. Prior to using complete dentures, th dentist will remove any remaining teeth. This must be done so that the the complete dentures can fit properly. Once the teeth removal is completed, the dentist makes a mold of your gums and submits the mold to a dental lab.
At the dental lab, a customized set of dentures are constructed for you. During this time, a temporary set of dentures are provided to the patient. Once your permanent dentures arrive at our office, a dentist will make sure the permanent dentures fit your mouth comfortably.
What are Partial Dentures?
Partial dentures act as replacement teeth when there are only a few teeth missing in the patient’s mouth. Partial dentures have the replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored base in order to create a natural looking smile when the appliance is used by the patient. Partial dentures are typically removable.
